JML uses QR Codes for better ‘Spool Tracking’. Also, to prepare real-time construction reports for ‘Components’ such as daily Fit-up, Welding and NDT. By scanning QR codes with a mobile phone, the Fabrication Supervisors would be able to update spool status and location into a database. Later the location can be tracked by reading the database.
For example, after finishing a painting job supervisors can scan the QR code and update the status as ‘Spool sent to the site’. After receiving at site, the site supervisor can scan the QR code and update the status as ‘Spool received at the site’, also update the storage location. This digital tracking of spools improves the efficiency of material management at the shop as well as the site.
